This round-trip circuit takes you from the riads of Marrakech, up and over the High Atlas, past Berber villages and grazing flocks, through a UNESCO kasbah and two of Morocco’s most dramatic gorges, and out into the dunes of Merzouga for a night you’ll be talking about long after you’re home. Private vehicle, private driver, your own pace — no big buses, no fixed groups.

Early Morning 7:00 AM
Your driver picks you up directly from your riad in Marrakech. From there, the road climbs into the High Atlas, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2,260 meters — one of the highest paved roads in North Africa. Along the way, watch rural Berber life unfold: villages built into the hillsides, flocks of sheep and goats crossing the road, and terraced fields clinging to the slopes.
Stop at Ait Ben Haddou, a centuries-old fortified kasbah known for its role in international film productions, before continuing to a comfortable hotel in the Dades Valley for the night.
After breakfast, head deeper south through Dades Gorge, then on to Todra Gorge for a walk along the riverbed beneath canyon walls that rise dramatically overhead. Continue through the Valley of Roses, the towns of Tinghir and Tinjdad, and on to Merzouga, where the desert finally opens up in front of you.
Trade your vehicle for a camel as the sun sets, and ride slowly into the dunes toward your desert camp. Dinner is prepared by the camp team, followed by traditional drum music around the fire.
Just before dawn, you’ll be woken to watch the sunrise over the Sahara — one of the most memorable moments of the trip. Your camels are waiting nearby to take you back to your vehicle for the return drive to Marrakech.
